About Us
Who is Cosmos Ceremonies?
Hi, I am Karen and I live in the North East of England with my civil partner Dave, our son Jozef and border terrier Coco. We are fortunate to be located right by the sea and the stunning beaches of South Shields, Marsden, Whitburn, Seaburn and Roker and this provides me with tranquil inspiration for creating personal and unique ceremonies for whichever life event you are celebrating or marking.
Completing comprehensive training with the International College of Professional Celebrants (ICPC) has provided me with a strong foundation to create and deliver ceremonies for weddings, post civil partnerships, renewal of vows, namings, funerals and memorials.
I have worked in the NHS as a nurse, midwife and manager for a number of years and being close to and supporting people during intimate and vulnerable times in their lives has been a privilege. My experience ensures I have a full understanding of respect, confidentiality and integrity and it will be such a pleasure to be able to work with you to create a service that is authentic to you and those you love, whatever the occasion.
Where can a ceremony be held?
As an Independent Celebrant I can deliver your ceremony anywhere you choose though some sites may need special permission from the land owner.
Venues for weddings, renewal of vows and services following a civil partnership are limited only by your imagination - let your soul be your guide.
The same is true for naming ceremonies though often these may take place in a family garden creating a safe, personal and welcoming space for families with young children. However as long as the venue is safe and legal keep exploring your options until somewhere feels right for you.
Typically funeral services are held at crematoria, cemeteries or natural burial sites although memorial services often have a wider choice of venue. Some may choose to have a small close family service at the crematorium followed on a later date by a larger memorial service for wider family and friends with less restraint on time.
Why Cosmos Ceremonies?
Cosmos creates a link between the earth and the universe and all of life's events from birth to our final days and everything inbetween. There is incredible beauty in the wistful Cosmos daisy and extraordinary wonder in the world and universe beyond and I seek to reflect this sentiment through the work I do for you.
